The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is less than two weeks away from publishing its last print issue. But it is working on other ways of engaging
readers.
For example, last weekend it ran a three-day pop-up event for area residents.
The AJC Headline House was an immersive three-day experience that
took place at Atlanta’s Krog Street Marketing. The free pop-up was designed to be a convergence of culture, community and food.
The pop-up featured new multimedia art installations
telling the history of the 157-year old publication and its transformation into a modern digital media company. Also, there were a range of speakers and panelists, including:
- Andrew Young, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations
- Lauren Amos, owner/founder, Antidote
- Ángel Cabrera, president, Georgia
Institute of Technology
- Morgan Shaw Parker, president and chief operating officer, WNBA’s Atlanta Dream
- Amelia DeLuca, chief sustainability
officer, Delta Air Lines
- Dr. Sanjay Gupta, chief medical correspondent, CNN.

Is this the first of many such pop-ups? That’s not
clear.
“We’re still crunching impressions on the reach of our social content from the Headline House,” a spokesperson says.
However, the event drew positive reviews. “I made my way to the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Headline House and was NOT disappointed!” one participant said on Instagram.
“This FREE three-day pop-up experience is delivering all the vibes from panels about conversation and community to special appearances and creative photo-ops you’ll love.”
